With the NFL combine concluding this past weekend, let’s take a look at which players are trending up in terms of both fantasy value and the NFL draft. Also known as the “winners” of the combine. The “losers” of the combine will be posted in a separate article tomorrow. The below players are in no specific order.
Before diving in, I wanted to mention that I’ll be referencing RAS (relative athletic score) a bunch and including “RAS cards” below. RAS is more or less a composite score used to evaluate a prospects athletic profile, factoring in size, speed, explosiveness, and agility. RAS is widely accepted as the primary way to evaluate combine performance. If you are not familiar with RAS, head to the website linked here to learn more.
Now, let’s talk about the guys who are trending up!
Bhayshul Tuten (RB, Virginia Tech) blew away the competition at the NFL combine, with a day-winning 4.32 40 yard dash and 1.49 10 yard split. He also led all RBs in vertical jump at 40.5”, and was tied for 2nd in broad jump at 10’10”. Previously pegged as a day 3 caliber RB, I’d be pretty surprised if he makes it past day 2 at this point. Tuten is a tackled evading machine, and is someone I continue to be way higher than consensus on.
Quinshon Judkins (RB, Ohio State) had a very encouraging combine. Despite being a heavier back, he was able to clock in a sub 4.5 40 time. He showed great speed and explosion for his size, and his 9.89 RAS was the best among RBs in this class. Judkins likely solidified himself as a top 5 back in this class for me, at the very least.
Raheim Sanders (RB, Arkansas) went from being viewed as a top prospect prior this year, to a likely day 3 pick at best and possibly a UDFA. His combine was a step in the
