The Former Elite TEs Are Too Cheap
The pendulum has swung too far on these formerly elite TEs, and they now pose potential values in drafts.
Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews had made up the 1-2 punch of the elite TE landscape for several years, yet that run ended in 2024. They are now perceived by the public as “washed”, and are being drafted on Underdog as the TE6 and TE7, respectively. While they may not be at their peak form compared to past seasons, they certainly still have value, and are definitely too cheap in 2025 best ball drafts from how I see it.
Travis Kelce
Kelce definitely took a large step back in his age 34 season, declining pretty drastically no matter how you look at it. He set career lows in YPRR, receiving yards, yards/rec (9.1), YAC/rec (3.9), and MTF/Rec (0.03), while tying his career low in TDs (4). These are obviously excluding his rookie season where he did not play. He also had an abysmal ESPN receiver rating, easily posting career lows in YAC and CATCH Rating while near his worst season in OPEN rating (since 2017).
Unsurprisingly, this drop in production and efficiency led to career lows in fantasy scoring, as Kelce clocked 147.9 half PPR points and fell just shy of 200 full PPR points at 196.4. He finished as the TE5 in total fantasy points, and the TE8 in FP/G. While Kelce was being drafted later than past years at the 3-4 turn, he was still the TE2 in drafts which made his 2024 season a major disappointment for those who drafted him frequently.
However, the bet on Kelce is completely different in 2025. For starters, he’s now the TE6/98th in ADP, compared to 2024 where he was the TE2/39th in ADP. His 98.3 ADP leaves him as a 9th round pick rather than a borderline 3rd rounder. And while Kelce certainly dropped off last year, there are positives to hang your hat on if you’re a Kelce bull.
